Porter County Election Board approves 11 mobile voting stops for October

The Porter County Election Board approved a schedule of 11 mobile voting stops for the October general election, beginning Oct. 12 at Kautz Library and ending Oct. 31 at Jamestown Apartments. The clerk read the proposed dates and sites and members moved to accept the locations.

“We're looking at starting on October 12 at Kautz Library, then going the 13th to South Haven Library…,” the clerk said while reading the proposed schedule and explaining that some libraries were chosen because programming runs later in the evening and the sites provide better restroom access for staff. Board members discussed logistics and the total number of stops; the clerk counted 11 locations. President Rausch called for a motion to accept the locations; the motion was seconded and carried with the board voting in favor.

The board flagged site selection reasons as operational—staff convenience and library programming schedules—and confirmed the list will be used for the general election. The approved schedule replaces prior site choices for several dates to better match evening programming at library locations.
