Resident raises keystroke-tracking concerns; superintendent says district does not use that software

At the public-comment portion of the meeting, resident and taxpayer Mr. Yentzer raised two sets of concerns: funding shifts and student privacy. On privacy, he warned the board that some schools use software that logs students’ keystrokes and listed examples: “ContentKeeper, Gaggle, LineWise, GoGuardian, and others,” adding, “I think talking to people that, Muncie Schools does use a software to track keyboard.”

Board members acknowledged the concern and asked for clarification. Later in the meeting Dr. Reynolds read a note and told the group, "We do not have keystrokes. We do not have that content manager that where. We do not have that." The superintendent reiterated the district does not maintain a keystroke-monitoring content manager.

The exchange left the claim raised in public comment disputed at the meeting: a community member alleged district use of keyboard-monitoring tools during public comment; the superintendent provided a direct denial on the record. The board did not take further action at the meeting beyond acknowledging the concern and promising continued vigilance.
