Needham Heights banners delayed after vendor error; installation planned for early September

Chair said the town’s Needham Heights placemaking banners arrived but some were produced without the required 4-inch pocket and must be reprinted.

"Well, the great news was that the banners came in and that we had a date to be able to put them up," the Chair said, adding that when volunteers checked the shipment they discovered some pockets were missing. She said the vendor "was mortified and and, and immediately, the next day sent a UPS pickup for them." The vendor has begun reprinting the affected banners and the chair estimated they would return in about "4 or 5 days."

Committee members discussed installation timing and locations. The Chair said final installation will depend on the Department of Public Works schedule but suggested residents should be able to see the new banners in the Needham Heights area "in the 1st or 2nd week of September." She identified placement on Highland Avenue (near Starbucks and Blue) and parking banners behind Blue on Markley Road.

The committee emphasized that the banners themselves look "beautiful," but made clear that the pocket-size error required a rapid vendor remedy. The chair said she will send an announcement to the public once installation dates are confirmed and the DPW has scheduled the work.
