Several members raised concerns about the administrative cost of running a vacant-structure registry: inspections, case management, letters, court filings and potential increased police/code enforcement presence. One member asked whether the city should expand staff capacity or use contracted legal services and the staff presenter noted existing code staff are near capacity and additional work may require new positions or contracted attorneys.
