The Meriwether County Board of Commissioners voted to start a temporary 90‑day moratorium process on R‑1 (single‑family) residential development to give staff time to review the county's minimum‑lot‑size requirements and draft a text amendment for public consideration. Staff told the board the current ordinance sets a minimum of 1.5 acres with public water and 1 acre with public water and sewer and asked for a 90‑day text‑amendment moratorium to complete legal review and public outreach.
