The Merrick County Board of Supervisors opened a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. April 28 on a proposed data center in Section 11, Township 15, Range 4. Charlie White of Aurum Capital Ventures, participating by phone, told the board the project’s "taxable valuation would be approximately $300,000,000.00." Justin Sunday of the Polk County Rural Public Power District said the project was recommended for approval and stated that, if rates changed, it would not be because of the center.
