Senate debates veterans-services language; resolution directs annual VA timing report
The Senate debated changes to veterans-service laws including removal of a ban on third-party compensation in certain circumstances, and adopted a resolution directing the Department of Veterans Affairs to report on time-to-claim metrics.

Senator Cathy presented the conference committee report on Senate Bill 208, which addresses services for veterans and restrictions on compensated assistance. Cathy said the conference removed a provision that would have barred persons with a business interest from helping file claims and also removed a prohibition on compensation for assistance with claims lacking a prior disability rating. "This just makes sure that every tool is in your toolbox, for those veterans," Cathy said in support of offering veterans more options.
