Residents and environmental groups urge full EIR for Brunswick wood-processing plan

Multiple organized groups and dozens of residents told the Planning Commission the mitigated negative declaration understates noise, traffic, air-quality and contamination risks and urged the county to prepare a full Environmental Impact Report before approving any grinding operation.

Environmental groups and neighborhood leaders told the Planning Commission they do not accept staff’s MND conclusion and urged a full CEQA Environmental Impact Report. Ralph Silverstein of the Community Environmental Advocates Foundation told the commission: "This project requires an environmental impact report, not a mitigated negative declaration," arguing that the county’s analysis relied on an unlawful baseline and underestimated potential significant effects on noise, air quality and traffic.
