Wykoff council accepts partial library grant after 3-2 vote

The Wykoff City Council voted 3-2 on June 9 to accept a partial Minnesota Department of Education grant offering about $133,000 of a $350,000 request; councilmembers split over long-term operating costs and tax impact.

Wykoff City Administrator Becky Schmidt told the council that the Minnesota Department of Education had partially approved a December grant application, offering approximately $133,000 of the $350,000 the city sought to renovate a former bank for a library and city office relocation. The council voted to accept the partial award; Mayor Ryan Breckenridge, Jane Baker and Missy Musel voted in favor while Jeff Hare and Barb Fate voted no.
