During the Feb. 18 meeting, committee members reported that initial estimates relying on milling and overlay proved inadequate after core samples showed insufficient base material in multiple locations. As a result, some sections originally planned for an overlay must be rebuilt, increasing costs and prompting the removal of certain streets from the base bid to preserve contingency funds.
