Commission backs local Search and Rescue team; LEPC studying hazardous materials transport

At 9:15 a.m. Steve Wykoff, Upshur County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director, requested the Commission’s support for the local Search and Rescue Team, which activates until professional teams from Morgantown or Charleston can assume operations. "The Search and Rescue Team is made up of members of the local Fire Departments, Sheriff’s Department, Mayor, Buckhannon City Police, and State Police," the minutes state. The team is not requesting funding; the Commission approved support on a motion by Douglas K. Bush, seconded by Sam Nolte.
