Landmarks commission says no proposals for 2026 CLG RFP, to reissue with 30‑day extension

The Middleton Landmarks Commission on Monday reported that the 2026 Certified Local Government (CLG) consultant RFP produced no proposals, and members agreed to reissue the solicitation and extend the deadline about 30 days.

Chair (speaking as the meeting facilitator) told the commission, “we did not receive any proposals from anyone,” and members discussed outreach options including using the vetted list from the historical society, contacting university affiliates who said the fee was too low, and advertising more widely. Joseph (commission member) noted summer timing might have limited responses and favored a 30‑day extension to a date near Sept. 20.

Commissioners asked staff to resend the RFP to contacts on the historical society list and to post it publicly. The group asked staff to report back at the next meeting on new responses and suggested clarifying minimum consultant experience in the RFP so applicants know the work requires experienced historic‑preservation consultants rather than student projects.
