Cuero ISD updates Student Code of Conduct after vulnerability assessment

Cuero ISD’s board approved revisions to the 2024–25 Student Code of Conduct to reflect corrective actions from a Nov. 6, 2024 District Vulnerability Assessment; changes clarify law enforcement duties (TEC 37.081(d)) and limit SRO/security duties for behavioral or administrative tasks.

The Cuero Independent School District Board of Trustees approved revisions to the 2024–25 Student Code of Conduct on Jan. 16, following recommendations from a District Vulnerability Assessment conducted Nov. 6, 2024. Superintendent Micah Dyer said the corrective language clarifies that law enforcement duties assigned to peace officers, school resource officers, and security personnel "do not include duties related behavioral or administrative duties better addressed by other district employees." The motion passed 7-0.
