Residents urge commissioners to limit annexations and pause data-center development
Residents and a Jefferson Township official urged the Fayette County commissioners to require JEDD agreements for annexations and to enact a one-year moratorium on data-center projects in Paint Township while the county updates its Land Use Plan.

Tom Vanderhorst, Economic Development Director for Jefferson Township, told the Fayette County Board of Commissioners he had submitted a resolution asking the board to deny municipal annexations of Jefferson Township territory unless a Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) agreement is in place. The board acknowledged receipt of the resolution but took no formal action during the meeting.
