Neighbors prevail as Peters board denies Spitzer Acura buffer reduction

Aug 25, 2026

After extensive neighbor testimony about trees, visibility, stormwater and noise, the Zoning Hearing Board denied Spitzer Acura's request to reduce the 25-foot rear landscape buffer to as little as 13.3 feet for expanded parking and service-bay access.

The full story

Spitzer Acura sought a variance from Peters Township's zoning ordinance to reduce the required 25-foot landscape buffer behind its Washington Road property to as little as 13.3 feet so it could expand parking and add service bays. Planning staff said the reduction stems from an irregular rear property line and topography; the dealer said most of the new parking would be for employees and service-customer staging rather than showroom inventory.
