Board approves Alexan Delray master sign program including monument sign

The Appearance Board voted to approve a master sign program for Alexan Delray that establishes a freestanding monument sign at the development's main driveway off South Congress Avenue.

"The proposed sign to be established with this master sign plan is the a freestanding monument sign," Senior Planner Alexi Howard told the board during staff presentation, noting the program would set maximum dimensions, setback and illumination allowances. Developer representative Thomas Kurian described the proposed monument as "10 feet wide, 4 foot tall, illuminated from the ground," and staff confirmed the design complies with the setback and square-footage limits in the code.

Staff said the project meets the relevant LDR standards (setback, max sign area, addressing and compatibility with building materials) and that it provides a 17-foot setback and less than the 40-square-foot maximum. After board questions about future rebranding and whether changes beyond the master sign program would require return to the board, members found the proposal consistent with the land-development regulations and approved the motion by roll call.
