Plan Commission recommends setback text amendment to Common Council, removes pool setback clause

The Plan Commission voted to recommend that the Common Council adopt a text amendment to the zoning code addressing side-yard and accessory-structure setbacks. The motion explicitly included removing the clause in Section 5 that states, “and in no case shall the water line of a pool be less than 10 feet from any lot line.”

Staff and commissioners discussed minor cleanups to the draft before referral to council. A clerk/participant identified the specific language to be struck on page four, second paragraph from the bottom, and commissioners noted that building and electrical inspectors already enforce technical standards that may supersede the removed sentence. Chair prompted a motion reflecting that edit so the document could be cleaned up by the city attorney prior to the council packet.
