Residents question county vehicle accounting and contracts during public comment

During the public comment portion of the Merrick County Board meeting, residents raised questions about county asset accounting, contracting and meeting operations. Kirsten Fasbender of Central City requested clarification and reconciliation of county-owned vehicles purchased with taxpayer funds. Ken Anderson asked about the county’s Zelle contract and about installing a speaker system for board meetings. Brad Wells criticized the county’s approach to hiring an administrative position, asked about sheriff vehicles not in use, and suggested a different format for expenditure reporting to improve transparency.
