Commission approves draft local-drought declaration after 911 director update
OEM/911 director Paul Lewis updated commissioners on technical issues, call volumes and grant funding; commissioners approved a draft local-disaster (drought) declaration to be signed and filed.

Paul Lewis provided the commission with a monthly OEM/911 report that covered recent technical fixes to the county’s emergency email routing, work with carriers about the Lost City tower, an MOU with Rockingham County for radio programming, and equipment needs. Lewis said the most recent replacement estimate for dispatch computers was "about 20,000" and that call volume for May was high at 717 calls.
