Evergreen Elementary construction ahead of schedule, district told

Board members received a construction update on the Evergreen Elementary project and were told the build is moving faster than expected.

The project presenter (speaker S5) said the 100% design-development set has been received, footings are poured in most areas and much of the form work is in place. "We've executed, 3 contract amendments. 1 was for the validation phase. And then we have 2 GMPs. 1 and 2. We will be, at the next board meeting, presenting GMP 3," the presenter said. Prefabrication of walls on-site and early work on long-lead mechanical items are already under way.

The presenter described a multi-story school with neutral exterior colors and said it will accommodate roughly 600 students. Board members asked specific design questions about the roof and entrance; the presenter said the front entrance design was largely finalized at 60% DD and will include an access court and courtyard area. The board asked about commissioning; the presenter confirmed commissioning will occur before occupancy and continue during early occupancy to tune systems.

Dr. Wenzel (S4) and other board members emphasized risk monitoring given a tight schedule; she noted occupancy is planned for late July and that the final weeks before opening have limited float. The presenter reiterated the team is planning move-ins and turnover to deliver a turnkey school.

Next steps: district staff will bring GMP 3 to the next regular board meeting for budget approval and contract authorization.
