Committee clarifies when retirees can return to DCSD health coverage
The Health Advisory Committee was told that, under Nevada law, retirees may rejoin Douglas County School District coverage only in even-numbered years if DCSD was their last public employer and they are drawing a PERS retirement.

Leeann Caires, Benefits & Risk Management Coordinator for the Douglas County School District, told the Health Advisory Committee that Nevada law limits when retirees can return to the district’s health plan. Per the committee’s discussion, retirees whose last public employer was DCSD and who are drawing a Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) retirement may return to DCSD coverage only in even-numbered years.
