Commissioners reject bids for off‑system bridge #155, consider low‑water crossing

Penco Engineering presented bids for off-system bridge #155 on 140 Rd between E Rd and F Rd; the engineer estimate was $69,400. Bids were: L & M Contractors of Great Bend $109,600.00; Bridges Inc. of Newton $134,500.00; and Reece Construction of Salina $109,535.72. After discussion of cost and options, the commissioners rejected all bids and asked staff to pursue an alternative approach to replace the crossing.
