Planning & Zoning seeks changes to conditional‑use permit rules; May 27 hearing set for 'The Spillers'

Apr 1, 2025

Planning and Zoning forwarded a draft that would alter conditional‑use permit (CUP) triggers — including thresholds for when a CUP is required for modular or stick‑built homes — and asked the county attorney to review suggested changes; staff also scheduled a May 27 CUP hearing for the Spillers.

The full story

Staff from Planning and Zoning presented a recommended update to the county's conditional‑use permit process at an April work session. The draft would modify when a CUP is required: suggested changes included removing a five‑acre threshold in some cases, not requiring a CUP for modular or stick‑built homes on one‑acre or larger already‑established lots, and clarifying that health‑department approvals and standard permits must be obtained before placement. Planning staff said they would forward the draft to County Attorney Bin Minter for legal review before returning it to the board for further discussion.
