Scott Early, executive director of the athletic coach association, asked the subcommittee to support the Coaches versus Overdoses program with $460,000 in state funding, down from $800,000 the program received in 2024. "We have over 110,000 student athletes in the state...and 8,200 coaches," Early said, arguing the program funnels prevention information through athletic administrators and trainers across grades 7'12.
