Bill to create regional air-quality incident response centers moves forward after testimony
AB 23-49 would fund and coordinate regional air-quality incident response centers to deploy monitoring and technical resources during chemical or fire-related air emergencies; sponsors and South Coast AQMD said pre-coordination would have improved past incident responses.

Assemblymember Solace presented AB 23-49 to establish a statewide network of regional air-quality incident response centers that partner local air districts with CARB to deploy monitoring equipment rapidly, invest in training and strengthen technical staffing for emergencies. Wayne Nastri, executive officer of the South Coast AQMD, said the centers would improve resource sharing and expedite deployment of monitors and analysis during incidents.
