At a special meeting on Jan. 31, 2025, the Cleveland Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Dr. Rachel Alex to serve as Interim Superintendent effective Feb. 1, 2025. Bethany Porter moved "to appoint Dr. Rachel Alex to serve as Interim Superintendent effective February 1, 2025," and Jennifer Pe——a seconded; the board recorded the motion as passing 6 to 0.
