Monroe board recognizes students who placed at state science fair and STEM competitions
The board recognized three students — Braylen (Braylon) Dixon, Lily Sokka and Aiden McElhaney — for science and engineering projects that earned awards at state and regional fairs, including a study showing sapodilla oils reduced native seed germination by 35%.

Deputy Superintendent Amber Azevedo called forward STEM coordinator Donna Tedesco and recognized three students for award-winning research and engineering projects. "She found that the oils from the sapodilla inhibited seed germination of our native shrub by an impressive 35%," Azevedo said while describing Braylen Dixon's results and noting the student's awards at the 71st State Science and Engineering Fair.
