County explores sharing more experienced assistant prosecutor with Oscoda to fill vacancy

After an assistant prosecutor resigned, Controller Paul Compo and Prosecutor Sierra Koch discussed hiring a more experienced attorney who would be a Crawford County employee assigned three days a week to Crawford and two to Oscoda, with Oscoda reimbursing 40%. County Controller Paul Compo told commissioners the assistant prosecuting attorney position has been posted following a resignation. After discussions with Prosecuting Attorney Sierra Koch, Compo said they think "there may be an opportunity to hire a more experienced attorney at a much higher cost and share them with another county." He said Oscoda County has been contacted about a shared arrangement in which the attorney would be a Crawford County employee working three days per week in Crawford and two in Oscoda, and Oscoda would reimburse Crawford 40% of the cost.
