The Wise County Commissioners' Court held a public hearing July 27 to consider a petition to create Wise County Emergency Services District No. 5, a new taxing district proposed to fund fire protection in southern and southeastern portions of the county. County Judge J.D. Clark opened the hearing at 8:30 a.m. and told attendees the court would consider whether to fix boundaries and place the measure on the November ballot if the district was found feasible.
