Evergreen Elementary construction 'on schedule,' presenter tells board

A presenter for the Evergreen Elementary project told the Enumclaw School District board that construction is "moving along extraordinarily well," with footings poured in most areas, formwork in place and early prefabrication and procurement under way.

The presenter said the team has executed three contract amendments (validation phase and two guaranteed maximum price packages) and will present GMP 3 — the package that will encompass the full project budget — at the next board meeting. On schedule milestones, the presenter said 90% construction documents are due Oct. 19 and 100% design documents are expected mid to late December, with occupancy targeted for July 27. "The project is moving along extraordinarily well," the presenter said.

Board members asked about the building’s appearance, entrance design and commissioning. The presenter said the school will be a multi-story facility designed for about 600 students, with a pitched roof and neutral exterior colors; renderings are available on the district website. Commissioning will occur before and during occupancy to ensure mechanical and technology systems perform as intended.

Superintendent Dr. Wenzel and the board emphasized the tight schedule and ongoing risk monitoring; staff noted contingency and buyout savings discussions will continue as subcontractor pricing and long-lead items are finalized.
