Eric Peterson of Polk County Land Development presented a request to change about 29.62 acres in the Kathleen area from residential low to institutional for a Kathleen Government Center. Peterson said the change supports the county’s broader decentralization of services — a pattern that has included northeast and central government centers — and that the site has sufficient frontage, utilities and room for pond expansion to mitigate drainage issues.
