Board approves $312,000 HVAC replacement for Judicial Building after total system failure

Assistant County Manager Micah Benson told the Board the Judicial Building is experiencing interior temperatures in the mid-80s following a total HVAC failure and that vendor bids indicated replacing the system is the most practical solution. Prather Plumbing & Heating proposed a 60-ton Carrier replacement for $312,000 with an estimated 9–11 week lead time; Benson said retrofitting windows would trigger a roughly $200,000 air balancing retrofit and total costs of $350,000–$400,000, making full unit replacement the appropriate technical remedy.
