Road Superintendent Joe Gardner submitted a letter of resignation effective Sept. 5, and the Board of County Commissioners voted to accept it at their Aug. 24 meeting. Chairman Mark Pruett said the board accepted the resignation "with regret" and thanked Gardner for his service, adding that "they sent him into a hornet’s nest and they are thankful for his efforts."
