Student advisory rep raises scheduling and AP-course concerns as school year begins

A student advisory representative told the Mashpee School Committee that abrupt schedule changes and the suspension of some AP offerings — including AP Physics — prompted students to drop classes and seek more transparency. The committee discussed constraints created by low enrollment and said it will work with administration on building-level solutions.

Kira, representing the Student Advisory Committee, told the Mashpee School Committee that early feedback from the first two days of school included appreciation for administrator classroom visits but concern about scheduling changes and course availability. "Some examples are the cut of the AP Physics program," Kira said, and she added that an overlap between Spanish 4 and AP Language forced some students to drop language classes to take advanced English.
