AgriLife Extension warns of state program closure; Laredo gets new extension agent
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension staff told commissioners the Better Living for Texans program is closing, costing the county three state-funded agents; the court met the new Prairie View-affiliated agent Stephanie Rocha and heard program focus areas and timelines.

Angelica Cepuentes, county extension agent for Family and Community Health with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, told the court that quarterly updates were intended to introduce staffing changes and new faces. "These are not county extension agents... these are strictly state funded," Cepuentes said, and she explained that one new extension agent will join while three agents funded through the Better Living for Texans program will be lost because the state program is closing.
