Several petitioners asked the committee to install rapid flashing beacons (RFBs) and other crossing improvements along Gold Star Boulevard. Traffic staff advised caution, saying that a single RFB would not address the root safety problem on a multi-lane, one-direction stretch. "The difference being in this case, all the traffic's going 1 direction ... a rapid flashing beacon is not going to improve the safety at this location with 4 lanes all traveling in the same direction," Commissioner Raleigh said.
