Commissioners authorize $122,966.84 in contingency for Webb County sheriff's office renovation

The commissioners court approved an authorization for Summit Building & Design to use contingency allowance funds totaling $122,966.84 for the Webb County Sheriff's Office renovation project. The engineering representative described the additional work as a set of items not in the original plans, including lowering ceilings and ductwork in the lobby, extending a west wall, adding roof drains, repairing tile and grout and adding water and drain work in the air-conditioning room.

An engineering representative said most major work has been completed and only a few punch-list items remain, including re-sloping shower tile and some minor flooring cracks that the contractor will repair this week. "That 1 will approximately take 120 days, I believe," the engineer said when asked about the garage paving and schedule for parking work tied to the project. The court moved, seconded and carried the authorization; commissioners requested an itemized list of contingency items and confirmation from the architect/engineer before release.
