Council to hold public hearing on proposed open-burning code changes
Council approved starting the process to amend Harrison City Code 3-2-4 on open burning and scheduled a public hearing; the changes would allow online or phone burn-permit applications beginning in 2026.

Councilmember T.J. Byrne told the council he has discussed new burning requirements with Fire Chief Patt and said the revisions to Harrison City Code 3-2-4 would require a public hearing before adoption. The draft changes would allow residents, beginning in 2026, to apply for burn permits online or by phone. Byrne also noted the Downtown District and a draft map were part of the discussion.
