Students in Molalla High School’s engineering design class presented redesigned panic-button covers — clip, desk-clip and lanyard designs — after two false alarms; the project used OnShape 3D modeling and 3D printing and can earn students community college credit.

Molalla High School engineering students showed the Board of Education on Feb. 26 how they redesigned panic-button covers to prevent accidental activations. Emmely Briley, the school’s engineering teacher, introduced students Isaac Sanchez and Jorge Salcedo, who described clip-style holders, a desk clip and a lanyard design developed using OnShape 3D modeling and 3D printers.
