Drainage projects move forward; crews working extended hours and tree replacements planned

Charlie Krebs reported active construction at four drainage‑improvement sites, with silt fences, staged fill dirt and pipe installation underway. He said Palmetto Dunes is expected to be completed by the end of the week, sod installation in Turnberry and Palmetto Dunes is likely the week of July 2, and pipe work in Oak Run is scheduled the week of June 29. Crews are working until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays to meet the schedule.

Krebs told the Board that a total of 12 affected trees in Palmetto Dunes would need removal and replacement (mostly slash pines and two red maples) and that six Cabbage Palms must be removed and replanted in Oak Run. He also noted an unexpected contractor hit an A/C coolant line during clearing; Mr. Long contacted the owner and the line was repaired, with related costs to be charged to contingency and tracked in a log for the next agenda. "If grading is completed, the project is expected to be completed by the end of July," Krebs said.
