Lieutenant Kevin Rieman told the board the Opioid Work Group recommended annual funding of $12,372 for urinalysis drug test cups, oral saliva drug kits, and lab analysis to support strategies for individuals in the criminal justice system and treatment courts. Rieman also proposed using Opioid Funds to purchase a new K9 unit vehicle (quoted at $90,000 including outfitting) better suited to handlers and equipment. Clerk Julie Freese said sufficient funds remain in the contractual-services line item so the purchase could proceed without an immediate separate budget hearing.
