Commission says Town Forest dam work will avoid wetland buffer; RFP being prepared

Karina Dailey provided the Commission with a project update on the Jericho Town Forest dam, saying the work will be done to avoid the wetland buffer and therefore will not require additional permitting. "The project will stay out of the wetland buffer area and no sediment will be moved into the buffer — doing it in this way means the project will not require additional permitting," she said.

Karina told commissioners that sediment moved after the last spring thaw will be allowed to wash downstream once the dam is removed, and that Jordan Duffy is preparing the RFP for contract bids. Barry Driscoll reported he had contacted downstream landowners in the McGrath Subdivision and that HOA chair Susan Lillich would brief homeowners and report back to Karina if there are concerns. Karina asked who to contact about the Town's formal policy on abutting-landowner agreements/MOUs and said she will keep Tom updated on the RFP posting and timeline.

The Commission did not take a formal vote on the project during the meeting; next steps are issuance of the RFP and continued outreach to downstream landowners and the HOA.
