Madison County's Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on March 24 to publish a previously adopted 2002 ordinance in the county code that imposes a $25 inmate processing fee. The resolution cites Virginia Code §15.2-1613.1 as authorizing localities to collect the fee and directs that the Clerk of Court collect the fee as part of court costs and remit proceeds to the Madison County Treasurer for appropriation to the sheriff to fund inmate processing costs.
