Commissioners hear multiple proposed 2027 departmental budgets
At the July 6 regular session, Smith County commissioners heard proposed 2027 budgets from EMS, the health department, the sheriff's department, clerk & election, treasurer and solid waste; commissioners and AdamsBrown consultant Jami Benyshek continued budget work through the afternoon.

After the Road & Bridge presentation, the commissioners heard a sequence of departmental budget proposals. Keith Wangerin presented the EMS proposed 2027 budget, Laura Hageman presented the health department proposed budget, Travis Conaway presented the sheriff's department proposed budget, Ashley Maxwell presented the clerk and election proposed budgets, Vernon Reinking presented the treasurer's proposed budget and Ryan Allen presented the solid waste proposed budget.
