House advances SAFE Act amendments to vehicle registration code

The House adopted committee amendments to Senate Bill 585 (the Safeguarding American Families Everywhere Act), broadening code placement and adding a voluntary 'safe' designation on vehicle registrations for people with certain conditions; members also adopted a second amendment expanding license-plate options for military families.

The South Carolina House on the floor examined and advanced Senate Bill 585, described on the floor as the SAFE Act — the Safeguarding American Families Everywhere Act. Mister Hartnett told members the committee amendment moves the bill language to the proper code section and allows "a person or guardian of of someone that with listed conditions will be voluntarily added to the safe designation on the vehicle registration."
