The Lake County commission voted 3–2 to invite the sheriff to a board meeting to present information about automatic license‑plate readers and respond to public questions. Supporters of the invitation said they wanted law‑enforcement experts to explain how queries are run, what safeguards exist, and how the systems are used for Amber and Silver Alerts. Some commissioners said formalizing a separate special meeting risked optics should the sheriff decline the invitation.
