Ryan Chase, assistant wastewater superintendent and ombudsman for the wastewater construction project, told the Your Yarmouth podcast that the effort is driven primarily by environmental concerns. “The nutrient loading that come from septic systems has a a really devastating impact on the ecosystem, that supports most of our tourism down here,” he said, describing harm to lakes, rivers and beaches.
