County leaders said early pilots shortened ADA processing times and that travel/training centralization went live in July; unions asked for more bargaining and clearer staff accommodations.

Multnomah County officials presented a phased plan to centralize routine HR and finance functions in a work session that commissioners called Sept. 3, 2026. COO Christopher Veil said the reforms aim to reduce duplication and ‘‘build a county government that is easier to navigate, that's more consistent in how it operates, and more responsible with the resources that the public has already given to us.”
