Following leadership elections, commissioners approved individual appointments to the audit committee, CAC board, Knox County Code Commission, Metro Drug Coalition, Railroad Authority, Retirement & Pension Board and several advisory groups by roll call or acclamation.

The commission approved several appointments to external boards and advisory committees. Notable decisions included: Commissioner Fox appointed to the Knox County audit committee (6–5 roll call); Commissioner Thompson appointed to the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (9–2); Commissioner Beeler appointed to the Metro Drug Coalition Board; and Commissioner Holt appointed to the Retirement and Pension Board and recommended by the mayor for Parks & Recreation appointment.
