Miss Grinstead told the subcommittee that bill 5179 "would establish a school mapping program to facilitate emergency responses at institutions of higher learning. Subject to funding, SLED would be required to contract with the vendor to provide school mapping data for each institution of higher ed in the state." She added that the resulting mapping data would be provided to institutions and local public-safety agencies and that the information would be treated as confidential and not disclosable under FOIA.
